PPL: What is it, exactly?

When we talk about a PPL, we are simply talking about a Private Pilot Licence. It is a licence that allows you to fly a small aircraft for your own pleasure, travel and personal adventures, without becoming a professional pilot.

You don’t need to be an aviation expert to start. You learn step by step with an instructor: how to prepare a flight, take off, navigate, communicate with air traffic control and, most importantly, fly safely. The training requires seriousness and regular practice, but it is accessible even if you start from zero.

Why get a PPL?

For me, flying is more than simply taking a plane to travel. When you are a passenger, you get on the aircraft, sit down and wait to arrive. With a PPL, you become part of the journey.

You start seeing the world differently. Roads, cities, mountains and landscapes that you know from the ground take on a completely different meaning from the sky. And there is something special about being able to take off, gain altitude and discover a place from a completely new perspective.

Another way to travel

What I love about the PPL is that it fits perfectly with the way I like to travel. On my motorcycle, I enjoy taking my time, leaving the main roads and discovering what lies between two destinations. Flying gives me that same feeling of exploration, but from above.

For me, the PPL is therefore not just a licence. It is another way to travel, discover and experience adventure. And maybe one day, after thousands of kilometres on the road, I will also tell stories about my journeys… from the sky.
