A Day on the Farm

At the farm, the day begins with the sun, not with an alarm.

In the morning, everything is still quiet. The chickens are starting their day, the trees are waiting for their water, and the soil still holds the freshness of the night. I take my time. There is no need to rush, no need to check the clock every five minutes.

There is always something to do. Feeding the chickens, collecting eggs, watering the trees, taking care of the garden, fixing something that decided to break at the worst possible moment… The list is never really finished.

And yet, I don’t experience it as work.

There is something special about working with your hands. Watching a tree you planted grow, harvesting what the land gives you, preparing a meal with ingredients that came from just a few metres away… These are simple things, but somehow they give time a different meaning.

The afternoon slows everything down. The heat calls for a break. A coffee, a little shade, sometimes simply a few minutes of doing nothing.

Then comes the evening.

The sun slowly disappears behind the olive trees and the farm becomes quiet again. Another ordinary day comes to an end.

No big journey. No desert. No kilometres.

Just a day on the farm.

And sometimes, that’s exactly what I need.
